Grading One Piece TCG Cards in Australia: PSA, CGC, BGS and the Real Cost

What it actually costs and takes to grade a One Piece TCG manga rare or SP card from Australia, once PSA Hong Kong routing, international shipping and GST are added to the US list price.

A manga rare or SP pull is the moment a One Piece TCG box actually pays for itself, and the next question is almost always whether to grade it. The honest answer depends on the specific card, because the headline grading price you see quoted is never the real number for an Australian submitter. Every major grading company is based overseas, One Piece's biggest chase cards are often Japanese prints that route through an entirely different queue, and the gap between a card's raw and graded value has to clear real freight, conversion and wait-time costs before grading actually makes sense. Here is what that looks like, card by card.

Which One Piece Cards Are Actually Worth Grading

Most of a One Piece collection is not a grading candidate. Commons and uncommons run five cents to a dollar raw, and no grading tier on any company's list makes that maths work. The cards worth the conversation sit in the SP, manga rare and alternate art tiers that CardTracker's own One Piece card list and valuable cards guide tracks in detail.

The spread inside that tier is wide. Raw SP cards from the Extra Booster: Anime 25th Collection run from roughly $1,000 to $7,000, led by Boa Hancock SP at $6,970. Manga rares from The Time of Battle and Adventure on Kami's Island sit lower raw, in the $1,000 to $1,250 range: Sakazuki Manga at $1,211, Kuzan Manga at $1,158, Enel Manga at $1,083. At the graded end, the OP01 Manga Alternate Art Shanks trades around $1,400 raw and well over $5,000 in PSA 10, a jump of roughly 3.5x or more just from the grade. The OP13 Red Manga Luffy pushes the ceiling further: about $32,800 in PSA 10, with a verified Black Label sale at $165,100, a figure that shows just how much a perfect-grade designation can be worth on top of an already-strong PSA 10.

What PSA Grading Actually Costs From Australia

PSA reopened its Standard tier at $59.99 USD on September 14, 2026, with Priority at $79.99, Express at $199, Super Express at $349, Premier at $599 and Premium 1 at $999, all before shipping. None of that is the number an Australian collector pays. Once a card goes through a local submission service, that $59.99 USD Standard tier becomes roughly $110 to $130 AUD once freight both ways, insurance, GST and the service's own handling are folded in, with a 90 to 100 business day turnaround on top of whatever shipping adds either side. CardTracker's full PSA grading cost breakdown for Australia runs through the current AUD numbers from named local submission services.

Using that floor against the card list above: a Sakazuki Manga at $1,211 raw clears a $120 AUD submission cost with enormous room to spare if it grades well, which is exactly the kind of card the economics favour. A random common does not get close, which is why grading decisions in this game live almost entirely in the manga rare and SP tier.

CGC, Beckett and TAG: the Other Three Options

PSA is not the only name in the room, and for One Piece specifically the alternatives are worth a look rather than an afterthought. CGC Cards prices by fair market value and speed: Bulk sits at $17 USD per card on a 25-card minimum with a 120 working day wait, Economy at $20 USD runs 65 working days, and Standard, Express and WalkThrough climb to $55, $100 and $300 USD as the wait drops to as little as two working days. Beckett (BGS) is the cheapest at entry, Base at $14.95 to $17.95 USD depending on subgrades, but carries a 75-plus business day wait at that tier, with Standard, Express and Priority running $34.95, $79.95 and $124.95 USD as turnaround improves. Beckett's four-subgrade label, covering centering, corners, edges and surface, is genuinely useful for a heavily foiled manga rare or SP card, where print-line and centering issues are common on foil stock and a single overall number can hide exactly the flaw that would have cost the grade.

TAG Grading is the newest option, using computer vision instead of a human grader on a 1,000-point scale that converts to a familiar 1 to 10 equivalent, with tiers from Base at $39.95 USD up to Premier at $299.95 USD, though TAG has paused its cheaper regular tiers through a backlog as of late 2026. Every one of these companies is still a US operation, so the same shipping, conversion and import overhead applies regardless of which name is on the slab. CardTracker's PSA, CGC, BGS and TAG comparison for Australians covers the full current pricing ladder for all four.

The Japanese Print Detour

This is the wrinkle that matters most for One Piece specifically. Japanese cards, including Japanese One Piece prints, do not go through PSA's US operation. They route through PSA Hong Kong instead, which adds one to two months on top of the already-long standard turnaround. A lot of the game's highest-value manga rares and SP variants exist as Japanese prints, either exclusively or as the version most Australian collectors actually pull or buy given how much of the sealed product reaching Australia arrives through Japanese-import specialists, a point CardTracker's booster box pricing guide covers in detail. Check which print you are holding before you submit. A $120 AUD, 90 to 100 business day estimate for an English-print card can stretch to seven or eight months once the Hong Kong routing applies to a Japanese one.

Run the Numbers Before You Submit

MyCardTracker's recommended rule for Australian submitters, already cited in CardTracker's Pokemon investing guide, applies just as directly here: only submit a card where the realistic graded value is at least three times the total submission cost, shipping and insurance included, not just the headline grading fee. Against a real $120 AUD all-in PSA Standard cost, that means a card needs a realistic graded value north of $360 AUD before grading clears the bar.

Run that against the card list above and the picture splits cleanly. The OP01 Manga Alternate Art Shanks, at roughly $1,400 raw and $5,000-plus in PSA 10, clears the 3x rule by a wide margin even before the grade lifts the value further. The OP13 Red Manga Luffy, already near $32,800 in PSA 10 before grading and capable of a $165,100 Black Label result, is an obvious submission candidate if you are confident in the centering and surface. A $1,000 to $1,250 raw manga rare like Sakazuki or Kuzan Manga still clears the rule comfortably on a conservative grade estimate. What does not clear it is anything priced in the tens of dollars raw: no realistic grade outcome gets a $30 card to $360 AUD, so grading a bulk pull is close to a guaranteed loss once the submission cost is counted.

Condition Risk Specific to One Piece Foils

One Piece's top tier leans harder on foil treatments than most other card games' equivalent chase tiers, and foil stock is where grading surprises happen. Print lines, foil scratches from factory handling and off-centre cutting are all more visible, and more likely, on a heavily foiled manga rare or SP card than on a plain-finish common. A card that looks gem-mint under normal light can still drop a full grade point under a loupe for exactly this reason. This is the practical case for Beckett's four-subgrade system over a single overall number: knowing a card is strong on centering and surface but weak on edges tells you something a blended PSA-style number does not, and it is worth factoring into which company you pick for a specific card rather than defaulting to whichever is cheapest that week.

The Australian Alternative: Grading Without the Overseas Trip

Every company above is a US operation, which means every submission from Australia carries international shipping, currency conversion and the chance of import GST on the return parcel, regardless of which one you pick. Melbourne-based Ark Grading removes that leg entirely: pricing starts at $23 AUD with a 65-day Economy turnaround that is close to the real, total wait rather than one slice of a much longer round trip, since there is no overseas freight or Hong Kong detour to add on top. CardTracker's full guide to grading with Ark in Australia covers the tiers, how submission works and a 5 percent discount code for CardTracker readers. Frequently asked questions

Is it worth grading One Piece TCG cards from Australia?
Only above a specific value threshold. Once real Australian submission costs are counted, roughly $110 to $130 AUD for PSA Standard, a card needs a realistic graded value of at least three times that, around $360 AUD or more, to clear MyCardTracker's recommended submission rule. Manga rares and SP cards in the $1,000-plus raw range clear this easily; bulk pulls worth tens of dollars do not.

Do Japanese One Piece cards take longer to grade than English ones?
Yes. Japanese prints, including Japanese One Piece cards, route through PSA Hong Kong rather than PSA's US operation, which adds one to two months on top of the standard turnaround for the same tier.

Which grading company is cheapest for a One Piece card?
By US list price, Beckett's Base tier ($14.95 to $17.95 USD) and CGC's Bulk tier ($17 USD) are the cheapest entry points. Once international shipping, currency conversion and potential import costs are added for an Australian submission, the gap between all four major graders narrows significantly.

Is there an Australian grading option for One Piece TCG?
Yes. Melbourne-based Ark Grading grades One Piece cards entirely within Australia, with pricing from $23 AUD and no international shipping, currency conversion or import exposure, unlike PSA, CGC, Beckett or TAG.

Before you ship a card overseas, check its current raw and graded value against CardTracker's live One Piece eBay deals and market data, and run the 3x rule before you commit it to a months-long round trip.
