PSA Grading Cost Australia 2026: New Pricing Explained
PSA reopened Standard grading at $59.99 USD on September 14, 2026. Here's what Australian collectors actually pay through local submission services.
PSA's Standard tier is back at $59.99, and at first glance that reads like cheap grading. It is not the number that matters for an Australian submission. The moment a card leaves Melbourne or Sydney through a local service, freight both ways, insurance, GST and duties get folded in, and the real entry point lands around $110 to $130 AUD a card.
Standard is open, the cheap tiers are still gone
PSA switched Standard back on at $59.99 per card on September 14, 2026. It is the first live entry-level pricing in months, and it is orderable from PSA's services page right now. But it is not a return of the Value tiers.
Value Bulk, Value, Value Plus and Value Max are all still paused. The tiers collectors used for cheap cards simply are not there. What is live sits higher up the ladder: Standard at $59.99, Priority at $79.99, Express at $199, Super Express at $349, Premier at $599, and Premium 1 at $999.
Express tells you where this is heading. It rose from $149 to $199 effective September 9, 2026, a week before Standard reopened. Nothing on this list got cheaper.
The February shake-up that buried the cheap tiers
This is the second half of a story that started back in February. On February 10, 2026, PSA raised five lower tiers: Value Bulk from $21.99 to $24.99, Value from $27.99 to $32.99, Value Plus from $44.99 to $49.99, Value Max from $59.99 to $64.99, and Regular from $74.99 to $79.99.
TCG Bulk was folded into a single Collectors Club-only service called Value Bulk, which now accepts cards from all categories including Pokémon. That detail matters if you grade trading cards on a budget, because the cheap path now sits behind a paid membership.
PSA's reason is volume. In 2021 it graded about 15,000 cards a day globally. Today the figure is roughly 90,000 a day. Demand running six times higher is why the Value tiers stay paused, and it is why a $59.99 Standard card comes with a 90 to 100 business day turnaround.
What Australian collectors actually pay
The US list price never survives the trip across the Pacific. Local submission services price in AUD and bundle the whole pipeline into one fee.
The Hobby Australia lists its cheapest PSA card tier at $110 AUD for cards valued under $1,000 USD, with a 5 to 6 month wait. Its under-$300 and under-$500 tiers are suspended, which makes $110 AUD the floor for what it will accept.

Slabbys charges $130 AUD for the Standard tier, with the same up-to-$1,000 USD insured value and a 90 to 100 business day turnaround. Its listed range runs from $48 AUD for Value Bulk on a 20-card minimum up to $1,200 AUD for Walkthrough. But Value Bulk is precisely the kind of tier PSA has paused, so a $48 price you cannot actually submit is no saving.
The pattern repeats everywhere you look. Every AUD figure sits above PSA's raw USD list because the middleman is covering postage both ways, insurance in transit, GST, customs duties and its own handling. That is why $59.99 becomes $110 to $130 before a card ever reaches the grader.
Japanese cards add a detour. Japanese Pokémon, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and other non-US produced cards must go through PSA Hong Kong, which tacks one to two months onto the listed processing time. A $110 AUD Standard submission of a Japanese card is not a 5 to 6 month wait. It is closer to seven or eight.
The hidden costs the per-card fee never covers
The per-card price is only the start. Shipping both ways runs $10 to $20 plus, card savers and packing supplies add another $5 to $10 a batch, and insurance for valuable cards is separate. Some service levels also require PSA Collectors Club membership, which carries its own annual fee, and a card that grades into a higher value tier than you declared triggers an upcharge to the matching fee.
That upcharge catches people. Declare a card's value low to save a few dollars and, if it comes back better than expected, PSA recharges you at the tier the grade actually lands in. The fee is not locked the day you pay.
Is grading worth it in 2026?
PSA graded 19.26 million cards in 2025 and holds about 72% of the grading market. That dominance is why it can pause the cheap tiers and keep raising prices, and it is why a PSA 10 still carries the resale premium it does.
For you the question is simple: does the graded value of a card, at a plausible 8, 9 or 10, clear the all-in cost of getting it slabbed? At $110 to $130 AUD plus return shipping and a possible upcharge, the answer for most cards is no. Sending $5 commons to PSA is a guaranteed loss.
