Update, 15 October 2026: Wave 4 release dates have moved

Toymate emailed pre-order customers today about the 30th Celebration Figure Collection (Mew & Mewtwo). The email reads, in full:

We are getting in touch regarding your pre-order for Pokemon TCG 30th Celebration Figure Collection Mew /Mewtwo SKU 26006953, which was originally scheduled for release on 06-Nov-26.

Our supplier has informed us of an unexpected delay with production and the supply of stock to Toymate. As a result, the release date has now been moved to 20-Nov-26.

Toymate sent a separate email for the Ultra-Premium Day/Night Collection, which reads:

We are getting in touch regarding your pre-order Order ###### for Pokemon TCG 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Day/Night Collection SKU 26006952, which was originally scheduled for release on 06-Nov-26. Our supplier has informed us of an unexpected delay with production and the supply of stock to Toymate. As a result, the release date has now been moved to 13-Nov-26. We know how much you are looking forward to receiving this, and we are truly sorry for any disappointment this shift in timeline may cause.

Please rest assured that your order remains fully secured with us and will be dispatched as soon as stock arrives at our fulfillment centre. You will also receive an automated email notification as soon as there are any updates to your order status.

EB Games has also updated its listings: the 30th Celebration 5 Booster Tin remains on 6 November, the Ditto Premium Collection and Figure Collection are now 20 November, and the Ultra-Premium Collections are now 13 November. Toymate and EB Games agree on the Ultra-Premium date of 13 November. We expect other Australian retailers to reflect these same new dates over the coming days. The likely cause is a supplier or distributor delay rather than anything specific to one store, so treat any listing still showing 6 November for the Ditto, Figure or Ultra-Premium products as stale until the retailer confirms otherwise. The four-wave release schedule

Wave 1 carries the bulk of the lineup with seven products. Wave 4 is the wave that has just changed. It was originally a single 6 November drop, but it has now split three ways (see the update above): the 5 Booster Tin stays on 6 November, the Ditto Premium Collection and Figure Collection move to 20 November, and the two Ultra-Premium Collections that will attract the most demand move to 13 November. The Binder Collection, originally a Wave 2 product, was reported to have been pushed back to a Wave 5 date of December 4 overseas - Big W sold it in Australia from the Wave 1 launch on September 16 instead, so that delay did not apply here. Wave 5 itself is still real for Australia: it brings the Sylveon ex Tin and Greninja ex Tin.

The full product lineup has been announced, but Australian pre-orders and pricing open closer to each release wave. That staggered schedule matters. Products from Waves 2 through 4 can be pre-ordered before they ship, but only once AU retailers list them. Tracking when those listings go live is how you avoid paying secondary market markups.

What makes this set different from every other release

This is the first Pokemon TCG expansion with a simultaneous worldwide release. Australia gets 30th Celebration on 16 September 2026, the same day as Japan, North America and Europe. No regional delay.

Beyond the release date, the set breaks from standard Pokemon TCG conventions in several ways:

• All-foil set. Every card in the set is foil, including Basic Energy. That has never happened in a main series expansion.
• Futuristic rare. A brand-new rarity debuting in this set. The first announced Futuristic rares are Mewtwo and Mew, illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN.
• 30 Pikachu cards. Every booster pack is guaranteed to contain one of 30 different Pikachu cards, each with a unique illustration.
• Announced chase cards. Illustration rares of Espeon, Umbreon, Lapras, Drifloon, Zorua and Lycanroc. Greninja and Sylveon as Pokemon ex. Classic reprints including the Base Set Charizard and Pikachu & Zekrom-GX.

Where to pre-order in Australia right now

Update, 23 September 2026: Kmart listed the 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collections online today, but the listing was immediately swamped by bots, and no genuine customer using a standard browser was able to complete a purchase. BigW and Target remain the only major retailers with online pre-orders still to come.

EB Games pricing: what happened and what it means

EB Games Australia deliberately launched 30th Anniversary pre-orders at inflated prices. They called it an anti-scalper strategy.

Kotaku reported on the fallout. EB's stated position: "Our priority from the beginning was simple, even though we knew it wouldn't be universally popular. We wanted genuine Pokemon fans to have the best possible opportunity to secure these once in a generation products while making life as difficult as possible for scalpers."

After the backlash, EB revised its prices. The ETB dropped to $120 AUD. That is still well above the standard ETB RRP of $100 AUD. The Ultra-Premium Collections settled at approximately $465 AUD, compared to the $120 at which all previous UPCs have been sold.

The practical takeaway: compare prices across retailers before locking in a pre-order. EB's "revised" pricing is still well above what other AU retailers are likely to charge once they open their own listings. The Pokemon Company International has not yet announced official MSRP for any 30th Celebration products.

What to expect from Wave 2 to 5 pre-orders

Waves 2 through 5 cover October, November and December releases - see the full release calendar for exact dates. None of these have opened at AU retail yet:

• Wave 2 (2 October): Booster Bundle and Mini Tins in ten artwork variants. The Booster Bundle is typically one of the more affordable sealed products.
• Wave 3 (30 October): Battle Deck featuring Espeon ex and Umbreon ex. Battle Decks are ready-to-play products aimed at newer players.
• Wave 4 (now split: 6, 13 and 20 November): The big one, and no longer a single date. The 5 Booster Tin holds 6 November. The Ditto Premium Collection and Figure Collection (Mew & Mewtwo) move to 20 November. Ultra-Premium Collection Day and Night (each with Pikachu ex paired with either Espeon ex or Umbreon ex) move to 13 November. Given the EB Games pricing controversy around the UPCs, expect heavy demand and fast sellouts at retailers offering closer-to-MSRP pricing.
• Wave 5 (4 December): Sylveon ex Tin and Greninja ex Tin (the 4-pack version at some retailers, while others sell the 5-pack version from 6 November), plus the Mega Forces Tin listed by EB Games - separate products from the Sylveon ex Box / Greninja ex Box in Wave 1, don't confuse the two. The Binder Collection was also originally slated for this wave, but Big W shipped it early in Australia alongside Wave 1 on 16 September.
