Pitch Black Most Valuable Cards Ranked
All 10 pitch black most valuable cards ranked by current market price, from the SIR Mega Darkrai ex down to Goldeen's first full-art. Updated July 2026.
Mega Darkrai ex overshadows everything else in Pitch Black. It plays the same role in this set that Mega Greninja played in Chaos Rising, with the set's four Darkrai cards, particularly the gold Mega Hyper Rare and the Special Illustration Rare, defining the chase.
But the full top 10 tells a more layered story. A draw Supporter inflated by post-rotation competitive demand. An Ultra Rare that outranks Illustration Rares on name recognition alone. A connected-art pair that creates a hidden collector premium. Here is every pitch black most valuable cards entry, what is driving each price, and where the market is landing.

Mega Darkrai ex: Two Cards at the Top
Pitch Black features four cards of Mega Darkrai ex. The two chase variants are the Special Illustration Rare (116/084) and the gold-coloured Mega Hyper Rare (120/084).
The SIR ranks as the most valuable chase card in the set, priced at $284.99. The MHR ranks second. Cards at the Mega Hyper Rare rarity sit at the top of the Pokemon TCG's current rarity hierarchy, so the MHR carries significant scarcity on top of Darkrai's popularity.
The Non-Darkrai SIRs: Morpeko, Zeraora, Chandelure
Morpeko ex (SIR), Rank 3. The most valuable Pokemon card in Pitch Black that does not have "Darkrai" in its name.
Mega Zeraora ex (114/084, SIR), Rank 4. Illustrator GIDORA's attention to colour and light is on full display here, with the Thunderclap Pokemon lit entirely by its own crackling electricity.
Mega Chandelure ex (115/084, SIR), Rank 5. This is Chandelure's Mega-Evolved form appearing on a card for the first time. Ghost-type Pokemon carry the "scary plus cute" combination that made Gengar beloved, and Chandelure has plenty of fans who are thrilled to collect its Mega-Evolved form.
Gwynn and the Post-Rotation Playability Premium
Gwynn's SIR ranks 6th. Its price is driven by competitive demand: players have been desperate for more draw Supporters ever since the last rotation, and Gwynn makes an appealing option for decks with enough non-Rule Box Pokemon to pitch. That includes the new Hide 'n' Sneak archetype introduced in Pitch Black, and potentially established decks like Marnie's Grimsnarl ex.
On the collector side, fans are delighted to finally have this Pokemon Legends: Z-A character in the TCG. Competitive demand and character novelty are both contributing to the price.
When Rarity Rules Break Down
Three cards in the bottom half of the ranking show where the normal relationship between rarity and price stops holding.
Misty (Ultra Rare), Rank 8. Ultra Rare cards typically rank below Illustration Rares in both popularity and price, but the market always makes an exception for any card with Misty on it. She is the most recognisable female character in all of Pokemon thanks to her starring role in the original games and the anime. An Ultra Rare outpricing Illustration Rares is unusual, and Misty is the reason it happens here.
Gladion's Final Battle (SIR), Rank 7. Gladion's Final Battle is being run in the off-meta Festival Lead deck, where it helps the deck's single-Prize attackers KO much beefier Pokemon like Dragapult ex and Mega Excadrill ex. 80 damage is a huge buff for those strategies. But the hidden value driver is that this card's connected artwork with Illustration Rare Silvally gives collectors a compelling reason to pick up both cards.
Slowbro (IR), Rank 9. Slowbro takes the title of the most expensive Illustration Rare card in Pitch Black. And rounding out the top 10, Goldeen finally has a full-art card of its own.
What to Watch
Each non-Special Set in the current era has had a singular focus, and Pitch Black's focus is squarely on Mega Darkrai. That concentration means the SIR and MHR Darkrai variants carry the bulk of the set's value, while the remaining eight cards compete for a smaller share of collector spending.
Gwynn is the one to watch for movement. If the competitive format shifts and draw Supporters become less scarce, the playability premium propping up that card could soften. If Hide 'n' Sneak or similar non-Rule Box strategies gain traction at tournaments, Gwynn could climb.
For the Illustration Rares at the bottom of the list (Slowbro, Goldeen), these are accessible entry points into the set for collectors looking to own a piece of Pitch Black without chasing the Darkrai variants.
