What Is Riftbound TCG? A Beginner's Guide for Australian Collectors
Two or more players face off with decks built around a Champion from the League of Legends universe.
Contents
Riftbound TCG is the League of Legends trading card game, developed by Riot Games, with UVS Games announced in February 2025 as its publishing and distribution partner for English-speaking countries. It is well past the rumour stage: the first English set, Origins, released on 31 October 2025, and the fifth, Radiance, is already sitting in Australian preorder at EB Games. This guide covers what the game is, how it plays, which sets are out and what product costs in Australia; it does not cover whether a digital version is coming or whether the cards make a good investment.
How a game of Riftbound works
Two or more players face off with decks built around a Champion from the League of Legends universe. Each player brings a main deck of at least 40 cards plus a rune deck of 12 rune cards, which serve as the resource for playing cards from the main deck. Points are scored by capturing and holding Battlefields, and the first player or team to reach the target score set by the game mode wins.
The formats go beyond straight duels: 1v1, 2v2 and a four-person free-for-all.
The entry product is the Champion Deck, a ready-to-play, 56-card reconstructed deck featuring Jinx, with 3 Rares and a clear path to competitive upgrades. Each deck also comes with a full-size paper playmat, a booster pack for customising it, and a booklet that walks through the rules and deck building. The preconstructed decks centre on icons like Jinx, Lee Sin and Viktor.
The sets so far: Origins to Radiance
Origins, the debut set, released in China in August 2025 and in English on 31 October 2025. Its 14-card booster packs pull from a pool of nearly 300 cards, and a booster display holds 24 packs.
The launch was rocky, which is worth knowing before you pay secondary-market money for early product. Supply was insufficient to meet demand, some cards had burred or rough edges, and a percentage of booster packs contained fewer rare cards than intended because of a collation error. The collation problem carried over into the second set, and Riot offered replacement cards limited to three per person and six per household.
Spiritforged, the second set, pulls from over 220 cards with 60+ alts, and on average a box carries more than 6 Epic rarity cards and more than 2 special alt-art cards.
Unleashed, the third set, followed in Chinese on 10 April and in English on 8 May 2026, according to MizouTCG. It adds champions like Rengar, Vi, Poppy and LeBlanc, with boosters pulling from over 220 cards and 30+ alt-arts. Partner stores ran Pre-Rift events from 1 to 7 May ahead of the release, in a 25-card limited format built on a preconstructed half-deck featuring one of the set's six Legends, topped up with six boosters.
Vendetta, the fourth set, was the first to release in English and Chinese at the same time, a practice kept for every set since. Riot announced on 26 June 2026 that a Korean release of Origins is scheduled for September 2026.
Radiance, the fifth set, is the one in Australian preorder, via the Radiance Vault at EB Games.

How to be in front of the next restock
Sold-out boxes and one-per-customer caps are already showing up across the range, so timing beats patience. We monitor 56 Australian retailers for restocks, price drops and new listings, from the major chains such as Kmart, BIG W, Target, JB Hi-Fi, EB Games and Amazon down to a long tail of TCG specialist stores. EB Games, which is carrying the Radiance Vault preorder, is one of the 56. Monitoring runs continuously, and the moment a tracked retailer changes stock, price or preorder status, an alert goes out with a direct link to buy. It is sent to Discord, Telegram and WhatsApp straight away rather than batched into a daily digest. eBay Australia is monitored for trading card stock and price drops as well. The core restock and price alerts are free; a paid Premium community adds faster, more finely filtered alerts.
You can see what is in stock across every retailer we monitor and what has recently moved. One definition before acting on any stock figure: in stock means the product was confirmed available at that retailer within the last 7 days, and availability at a large retailer can change within minutes, so always confirm on the retailer's own page.
If you would rather see the game on a table than in a listing, we keep a hand-researched list of Australian TCG and collectibles conventions, each entry linked back to the organiser's own listing.
