Pokemon TCG Restocks in Australia: Why They Vanish and How to Catch Them
The wider stock overview currently shows 22,759 products in stock across every retailer monitored.

A Pokemon TCG restock in Australia is over quickly. The stock is thin, the demand is national, and the collectors who get the product are the ones already watching when it lands. One collector's report on r/PokemonTCG captures the pace: Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Boxes sold out across Australia before 10am local time on 20 February, with none seen at retail since.
Working with that pace means knowing three things: why the shelves are thin in the first place, what a stock drop looks like when it happens, and how to be watching without sitting in front of a product page all day.
Why the shelves are thin
The shortage starts above the retail level. A thread on r/PokemonTCG reports that Banter Toys, described there as Australia's only Pokemon TCG distributor, told account holders that no set before Ascended Heroes would be restocked in Australia indefinitely, quoting a Banter representative on the reason: The Pokemon Company International cannot keep up with global demand. If that holds, waiting for a retail restock of an older set means waiting for something that may not come.
The allocations behind it are small. The same thread reports Kmart stores receiving a single case of the Prismatic Figures collection each, one run with no restocks afterwards. One collector reports local game stores being allocated one to two Elite Trainer Boxes and a single booster box a month for a city of 500,000 people, and another counts seven sets released since Surging Sparks without a single Elite Trainer Box appearing on the Australian Pokemon Center website.
What does reach the shelves does not linger. Resellers running bots are the reason Target, Kmart and BIG W can run out of online stock in minutes, the same thread reports.
What counts as a stock drop
On the stock drops page, a drop is one specific event: a tracked product at a major Australian retailer going from unavailable to in stock, detected automatically by the monitoring rather than written up by hand or predicted. The page is checked continuously, roughly every 15 minutes, so a new drop appears within minutes of being detected. It is scoped to the major chains on purpose, Kmart, BIG W, Target, JB Hi-Fi, Amazon, EB Games, Myer, Toymate, Toyworld, Kidstuff, Toys R Us, Officeworks and Mr Toys Toyworld, because smaller specialist stores restock too often for a drop page to be a useful signal.
The wider stock overview currently shows 22,759 products in stock across every retailer monitored. On these pages, in stock means the product was confirmed available at that retailer within the last 7 days, and because availability at a large retailer can change within minutes, always confirm on the retailer's own page before you rely on it.
What the per-store data shows
We monitor 56 Australian retailers, covering the major chains such as Kmart, BIG W, Target, JB Hi-Fi, EB Games and Amazon, plus a long tail of Australian TCG specialist stores. Our retailers page breaks that down store by store, with per-store stock, recent drops and the times each retailer is busiest.

Grade with Ark →The stores do not look alike. At Kmart, the tracker currently follows 94 Pokemon products, and the sets tracked there include Scarlet & Violet Base with eight products, Prismatic Evolutions and Delta Reign with five each, and Black Bolt and Perfect Order with four each. Amazon's Pokemon TCG page tracks 427. Pokemon Center Australia is the gap: it is the official store and the only source for its exclusive variants, and it is not being monitored at the moment, so there is no live stock or restock pattern to show for it.
Timing is where a specialist store's numbers get interesting. PokeBox recorded 166 tracked changes over the last 90 days, and most of that activity lands between 12pm and 3pm AEST. The count includes every change recorded, restocks, price moves and newly listed products, so read it as when the retailer is busiest rather than restocks alone. Those exclusive variants do show up elsewhere, though: the 30th Celebration Pokemon Center Exclusive Elite Trainer Box was confirmed available at PokeBox within the last 7 days.
How to catch a restock before it sells out
Catching a Pokemon restock in Australia is a speed problem before it is anything else, and speed is what the alert system is built around. Catching drops before they sell out is the job our restock tracker was built for: retailers are monitored continuously, and an alert goes out the moment a change is detected, to Discord, Telegram and WhatsApp at the same time rather than batched into a daily digest. Changes do not keep business hours, either: our Kmart page recorded a price drop at 1:02am AEST on 5 November.
Every alert is checked against its RRP and current market value before it is sent, and listings priced excessively above that are filtered out automatically. Most Pokemon alerts now show the price-per-pack calculation inline, so you can judge a drop in the two or three seconds a high-traffic restock actually allows. The Premium Discord sends sub-minute pings from our own infrastructure rather than relaying through a slower third-party bot.
The alerts cover preorders as well as restocks, firing the moment a tracked retailer lists one, which matters because preorders for a major set can sell through in minutes. On release timing, EB Games typically opens the most structured preorder programme, with specialist stores close behind, while the major chains such as Kmart, BIG W and Target tend to list closer to release day.
Curated filters target specific sets like 151, Evolving Skies and the latest Mega releases. If you are watching restocks for particular sets rather than the market as a whole, those filters are how the targeting gets done.
How CardTracker.au helps with Pokemon restocks in Australia
Both halves of the job sit on the same tracking. The store-by-store picture lives on our retailers page, and the catching is our restock tracker's job. Every alert carries a direct link to the listing, so a drop is one tap from the checkout rather than a hunt. The core alerts, market prices and deal tracking are free to use, and a paid Premium community adds faster, more finely filtered alerts. More than 1,000 collectors are already in the alert communities, and the Premium Discord is free for the first 7 days.
Set up a free alert for the sets you are chasing, and watch your stores for the moment the next drop lands.
