Pokemon Center emailed customers in the UK and Germany with an opaque message: orders were cancelled due to an "unforeseen fulfilment issue." What the email did not say upfront was that hackers had breached CEVA Logistics, the third-party shipping provider Pokemon Center uses for European orders.
The cyberattack on CEVA ran from July 29 to August 1, 2026, and disrupted roughly eight European warehouses. The breach was not limited to Pokemon. Valve was hit through the same logistics provider and notified Steam hardware customers in Europe that their names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and order details had been stolen.
Valve did not cancel orders. Pokemon Center did. The company has never explained why cancellations were necessary rather than a delay, and affected customers who reached out to support got a brick wall: "Pokemon Center Support does not have any further information to share on this topic," followed by the ticket being closed.
According to reports from multiple users across X and several Pokemon TCG-related subreddits, an unquantifiable number of 30th Celebration pre-orders were cancelled overnight; collectors believe that orders placed using bots were primarily being targeted. Pokemon Center has not released a statement confirming the reason, but the pattern (bulk cancellations targeting orders that showed bot-like purchase behaviour) and the timing (just ahead of the set's release) point to an automated purge. This time the target was scalper scripts, not a logistics breach. The outcome for many legitimate collectors was the same.
Why It Hits Australian Collectors Harder

The immediate risk is phishing. Someone holding your name, address, and exact order contents has enough material to craft a convincing impersonation of Pokemon Center. The company's own breach notification added to the confusion by leading with the "unforeseen fulfilment issue" language before disclosing the cyberattack, which means affected customers should be especially sceptical of any follow-up emails referencing their order number.

Pokemon Center customer support, when asked whether it was safe to re-order, replied that it had no further information and closed the ticket. No public statement has been issued beyond the customer notification emails.
The Scalper Crackdown: Collateral Damage
